Mid-Late November Trip Ideas....

The wife and I plus our 2 pups are looking for somewhere to stay for a week in mid to late November. It's our anniversary so something relaxing and nice. Budget is under 2,000. We live in South Louisiana so we we're looking at a maximum drive of 9 hours. We've stayed on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs two years ago and had a great time. Fishing was pretty nice. We also stayed in Indian Pass, FL three years ago and had a blast there as well. We looked at going back but the place is devastated from Hurricane Michael. I think we'd like to stay near or on the water somewhere. Something a little secluded would be a plus. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

Pups as in kiddos or dogs? Definitely changes the answers you’ll get.

Big Bend and Marfa/Alpine/ Ft Davis is great that time of year. May be further than 9 hours though.

St. George Island is still fine and a favorite.
Big Bend, as mentioned, is a 13 hour drive so a bit much, but a great place and November is a good month for it.

FYI I just got back from there on Monday and Indian Pass is mostly fine. The Raw Bar was flooded and still under construction, Appalachicola was basically not touched by Michael, and the town of Port St Joe commercial wise is pretty much back to normal. There’s some houses on the east side of PSJ town that I’m assuming were hit with surge, but most of the damage was to Mexico Beach and to the west. Once you go over the bridge to PSJ from there east outside of some things hit by surge it’s mostly untouched.
I didn’t go out to the Cape though so I’m sure that had damage.

The Raw Bar was pretty awesome and so was Apalachicola. Some nice bars and restaurants out there. Hope they bounce back soon.
