Just talked with our regional Walmart sales manager. Gave me a little more clarification. They will still carry .223 in small quantity (20rd box) hunting grain as well as 7.62, .308, 300blkout, 6.5 Grendel and so forth. Basically will no longer carry cheap manufacturers (tull-ammo) and large quantities (above 20rd per box) of any of those calibers. Also there is more discussion and more to come on how to move forward with.22 bullets. Possibly no more bricks and buckets cap sale at a single 50rd box per customer situation.

eta: again, where are you guys getting ammo from that's cheaper than walmart? i bought 2 of the 200 round winchester whitebox 5.56 for $60 yesterday (per box). i don't buy 1000 rounds at a time.
