Member that argument that pride used to make that the reason the Rafa / Smug h2h was so skewed was because "Rafa never made it far enough at the open to have to play smug"?

I member.

Until Rafa or Novak pass him in the slam count.

His days as the GOAT are numbered.

If Federer had won Wimbledon this year, I think he would have solidified it, Joker could definitely catch him now. My only issue with Nadal is 12 of his 19 are in the French. He is indisputably the best clay court player ever

If Novak stays healthy and can keep his wife from finding out about all the broads he's raw-dogging on the daily, then he has a very good chance.

But lest we forget that Novak is no spring chicken either. And 4 more majors for a 32 year old player is a big ask.

There are versions of this story for each guy.

If Rafa had held on in the 5th set of the '17 Aussie final, there would be literally zero basis for a GOATfed argument.

If Rafa and Fed both finish with 20, and Novak finishes with fewer than 20, who is GOAT?

If all three finish with 20, who is GOAT?

I forget the exact number, but there was some stat a few years back that nobody has won more than four majors after turning 29. I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'm guessing Novak and Rafa have blown through it.

I think Rafa squeaks up to 22 and Novak catches Fed at 20.

And he's now one off the most US Open titles ever. Meanwhile Roger has to skip an entire season because he's just a grass expert now. Rafa can beast on every surface & Roger can't. That's why moving forward the debate will be between him and Novak.

Rafa has played in 5 or more finals at every major in his career. Not bad for the king of clay.

TF are you talking about, Federer has been to multiple finals and semis at every major. He has the longest final appearance, SF, and QF appearance streak for all slams. He won the Aussie twice recently on hard court. Was in the Roland Garros semifinal this year.

Calling him a grass court specialist is moronic.

Well he did skip the entire clay court season TWICE just to make sure his body was ready for the tournament he thought he had a chance of winning.

Also, check out Roger's winning percentage at the last ten US Opens. Compare it to Rafa's. Kindly report back findings.

Rafa has H2H against both in majors.

10-4 against mere smug.
9-6 against Djoke.

In case you wanted to witness a smug fan completely losing his mind:

And, really, who doesn't. Still waiting on pride to uncurl himself from the fetal position, log on to td, and, maybe just maybe, top even the best of his impressive portfolio of comically terrible arguments.

That thread was gold. Imagine being that mad about something far beyond your control? Too bad we can't drop prime Rafa & Novak in the Roddick & Hewitt era.

Exactly.

How many majors would smug have if Novak and Rafa were five years older?
