Virgil looked really good. Threw a good ball and had what felt like a quick release. He also had to have led the team in rushing yards based on two scrambles, alone.
Kelly looked good too, just a completely different kind of player. If Virgil comes back healthy, I think you'll see some short yardage and goal like packages for Kelly, but it's definitely an offense that Virgil looks comfortable in and they are comfortable with him.
Defense looked really good. We actually had some good speed in the secondary and got after the quarterback a good bit. Was really impressed as to what I saw.
Game got a little chippy towards the end with their players laying on top of some of our players and not getting off. Saw us retaliate and do it to them. Showed me we got some fight (definitely reading way too far into this one play, lol).
I don't think we have a legit shot in two weeks in Oxford, but it could be a really fun game.
Atmosphere was also pretty good for a Thursday night.

That was one of the most impressive defensive performances I have ever seen, despite the fact we gave up 481 yards. We consistently got to the QB, and should have gotten at least 2-3 more sacks. First play of the game getting a sack was massive, and the perfect way to set the tone for the season.
I don't want to overreact to one game, but I went from a 6/10 enthusiasm for this season to a 10/10 really quick.

I will be honest, after Ron Roberts, left, didn't have a lot of hope. Scelfo was run out of Texas San Antonio and SLU didn't do well last year. What happened to the kid from USCe who played QB last year or maybe two years ago? He seemed like he had potential. I lost a lot of interest too when my mom's boyfriend passed away. He played at SLU and really got me interested all the way back when the program came back in 2003. So will keep an eye on this team and may go check out a game or two. I like Cole Kelley on short yardage stuff. Big guy. No idea about Virgil but so far so good.

He's playing wide receiver. This team has a chance to be really good.
