LSUPD and the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training/Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education (NCBRT/ACE) will be conducting an active shooter exercise at the Student Recreation Complex (UREC) tomorrow, Aug. 23, from approximately 9:30 to 11 a.m. The UREC will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon.

Please be advised that during this time, a blank gun will be fired sporadically and there will be a large presence of first responders. This is a part of the drill and not a cause for concern.

LSUPD officers will be posted on the perimeter of the UREC, and no one will be permitted to enter unless they are a part of the drill. The UREC will reopen at noon.

Due to the incident in Coates Hall on Tuesday, we ask that you help spread the word about this previously-scheduled drill to friends and loved ones so there is no confusion or cause for alarm.
