I have always trusted these guys, but they said the Callaway chrome soft is garbage and I don’t know why. If I’m losing distance with it, I don’t want to hit a better ball. I would be in jail with more distance

I don't disagree with their conclusions, but I play the Wilson Duo Professional ball, a low compression 3 price urethane. I've tried the MTB-X, the Z-Star, and a few others. The Duo Pro consistently is longer for me.

I think individual swings can create exceptions to the rule. I have a friend who gets the ball in the hole pretty well, but he has a big over-the-top move in his swing that creates a lot of side spin especially with the driver and long irons. The AVX helped him because it goes straighter for him. Because it’s flying straighter, his net distance (relative to what he has left to the hole) is less. Now, if he’d fix his swing to get on plane then his results head to head would be better with the MTBX or Prov1

MyGolfSpy even says to find a ball and stick with it... there are huge differences in distance, trajectory and spin rates between balls, so if you’re switching, you’re gonna have trouble being consistent
