Recent trend shows that waiting your turn isn’t so much the case anymore; coaches, especially offensive minded coaches, are being accelerated thru the ranks rather quickly. An arms race is happening; get those guys before your competitor. And in some cases find a HC that can call a game because your good OC is just going to get poached

Well that was my idea from the beginning.

I was in favor of bringing in Lincoln Riley as HC when he was an OC for OU but our fans thought we were too good for him.

not disagreeing, but honestly curious who these guys are and what schools are hiring them?

a wiki search for aTm, oklahoma, ohio st, UF, USC, Texas, FSU, and michigan, show they were all OC's or at least co-OC prior to being hired. And then you have Sark at Bama .

i'm just not seeing it at the top programs.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but what are some examples of this?
