Anybody thinking we're going to march into DKR and walk out with a 30 point win is smoking something I'd like to partake in. Is it possible? Sure. Is it probable? No. Likely, LSU will attack UT's apparent weakness, which is its front 7. So LSU will be giving UT a steady dose of CEH, Fournette, Emery, Curry, and Davis. O and Burrow. There are just too many playmakers in LSU's backfield to not expose what appears to be a weak front 7. So it's gonna be a pretty low scoring game as LSU tries to exercise ball control and keep UT off the field.
LSU's defense will have its hands full. Ehlinger is a better Nick Fitzgerald, who LSU embarrassed last year, but who embarrassed LSU in 2017. Don't sleep on UT's ability to move the ball.
The good thing is that UT's strength is going against LSU's strength and I think LSU just has more playmakers defensively and can win that battle. If UT's defense is as bad as it really could be, particularly in game 2, as all these guys find their feet, LSU's offense should be fine, but UT had a legit defense last year and have some talent there. I don't think it's going to be that easy to just run the ball, though it does appear that that will be UT's weak point.
I'd love for LSU to walk into DKR and make UT look like pretenders. But the likelier scenario is a hard fought, lower scoring game as LSU grounds and pounds, opening up running lanes here and there with quick hit passes and enough play action to keep UT's safeties honest.
