Cheers from Austria!

This year I want to make a dream come true and watch live sports in North America. For college football I want to attend a game from the LSU Tigers. I'm fascinated from this crowd and the stadium since I came first time in contact (on television) with college football back in 2011.

I hade to make a decision betwenn Utah and Florida. Even there is a chance that it would not be a night game and the fact there is no Saints game this weekend, I prefer the Florida game. I plan to come the night prior the game and going home from BR airport the day after the game.

Which section would be your advice for me to experience a memorable game day (perfect mixture of football AND atmopshere - crowd - band - and and and)? I'm not only interested in the game, I want to feel the atmosphere as well. I thinking about buying a ticket for the corner around section 242 or the section 300 / 301. The upper sections seam to me far away from the action.

Thanks and "Geaux Tigers "

If the atmosphere is your main concern, go for the Florida game not Utah (it's Utah State btw).

When you get in Friday go take a walk around campus. Go to Chimes, or even Walk Ons. Chimes has better food, Walk Ons will have the better atmosphere. If you arrive early enough do Chimes at lunch and Walk Ons at night.

Saturday arrive on campus early to take it all in. Walk around and find groups of people and tell your story. They will take care of you.

Some must do things on game day.

- pass by Mike's cage
- watch the team walk down the hill
- watch the band come down the hill

There will be a schedule posted here on those times during the week of the game. Check back here for that.

Florida for sure - are you coming alone or with a group?

Only ask because tickets in the same location are easier to come by.

Wear a team Das Burschen Unsere Burschen jersey (if you have one) this will lead to free food and booze.

Don't go to the Utah game. You would miss the experience you are seeking. Florida will be one of the best home games of the year even if it's a day game. Those sections are fine. I wouldn't get anything too low in sections 300/301. Make sure it's at least 16 or above.

Florida game for sure. It is a true SEC game and will be a great one to catch. The energy on campus will be a lot better for that one than Utah St.

Stop by our tailgate at Damn Strong Inc in the Hayfield lot for some good food.

any section in the lower bowl, just take care not to have arms or legs hanging out near aisles or exits at half time, you'd be trampled faster than hippies at a Who concert by everyone trying to get the hell out of the stadium

Be sure and read the rules and regs. So many people have their visits ruined when they show up at the gates and find out they can't bring something in.

it will be stricter than prior to boarding a airplane. don't bring anything metal that aren't keys or a belt buckle. no cases or bags that aren't clear for your binoculars or cameras or whatever you want to bring in.
PS the guy wanted to look through my binoculars once last season to make sure it wasn't a flask. I have never heard of anyone being checked for binocular flask.

I’d buy the section 242 tickets

1. There is no such thing as "too early", especially if Florida is a day game.
2. I'd go with Section 242 but 301 is very good also if you can get either ones.
3. I'd park near the Student Rec Center behind sorority row if you can and walk. It's a short walk to the LSU Union, which has food, large screen TV lounging areas, etc.
4. Chimes is good place to eat, but you can also walk around campus and greet people at tailgating canopies and tents (except the fraternity ones). You will be well fed :)
5. Some of the best tailgating areas are: Parade Grounds in front of the Union and facing Memorial Tower, behind LSU Law Center, all along Dalrymple Drive and into the Lockett Hall, Allen Hall, Indian Mounds area, other side of Chopin facing Parker Ag Center, etc.
6. The Tiger Athletic Foundation (TAF) also has a pre-game tailgate with meals and concessions, big screen TV, and the LSU Band performing - inside the Maravich Assemble Center across from Tiger Stadium, usually about 4 hours before kickoff. A TAF member could get you in.
7. Do NOT miss the Band marching down Victory Hill.
8. Mike the Tiger's Habitat, in between Gift Shop and TAF entrance ramp to the PMAC, across from the stadium. See Mike upclose :)
9. For Gawd's sake, get in your seats EARLY so you don't miss the best pre-game pageantry in college football...
10. Bring ear plugs and cough drops :)

Avoid Utah State game at all costs.

Stadium will be empty by 3rd quarter.

Also there is a chance the Florida game will be moved to afternoon.

Because of this possibility, I would avoid anything in the upper deck east side. It will feel like a blast furnace, especially to someone from a country with a pleasant temperature environment like Austria.

It can still be boiling hot in Louisiana in early October. With the added humidity, it feels like someone put a heavy, hot, wet blanket on your head and shoulders.

The decision has been made: Florida is the game of choice

Thank you all so much I've picked up your advices and I'm already thinking about my visit and all the options around the game. I'll take the bus to Baton Rouge definitly the day before the game. Can't wait to come to LSU.

I will travel on my own and hope to get a good seat. I wanted to wait for the general sale, but it says just "Upper Level Seating available". I think I'll buy one on StubHub.

No, my name is Florian. Short form is "Flo" and I live next to Salzburg.

Sorry, I don't know exactly which jersey you mean :) The jersey from our national team?
