I was taught the principles of logic require a premise, assumptions stated as facts which may or may not be true but from which logical conclusions can be drawn.
If we say that everything that flies is a bird and that bats fly then logically, bats are birds. Now we know this isn’t true but based on the assumptions it is a correct logical conclusion.
I think a lot of people use the word logical when they really mean rational.
