Here is the data on the city's website . It goes back to 2001.
Idk if they differentiate knife/bat/hammer ag assaults from guns when writing reports, but there's a 99% chance they do when reporting to the feds.
Eta: As far as I can tell, it looks like the type of weapon must be distinguish in the newer NIBRS, but isn't required to be submitted in the UCR. Louisiana also has LIBRS, which Baton Rouge has been a part of since at least 2010. Type of weapon is required in that also.
These reports are published quarterly and yearly, so the chief is lying, and Kiran needs to do some research before interviewing him
