Maybe the league should do away with guaranteed contracts. That way it’s more like real life employment.

I know sometimes you think your $20/hr job is real life, but high dollar positions are generally the type where you sign a contract. And if said company doesn't want you around anymore, they can tell you to leave even though they may have to keep paying you. Happen to my uncle. basically had a 6 month vacation where he got paid his normal salary, but didn't have to work b/c they let him go, but his 3 year contract was guaranteed and he hadn't done anything to breach it, so they had to pay him.
Cousin of mine signed a 2 year contract to be a VP. He gets a $250k bonus each year on top of his salary. If he wants to break the contract and leave the company, he has to give the bonus back, and as long as he does his job, they have to pay him.

Most employment contracts aren’t for 5 years and 9 figures, fully guaranteed.

Even the CEO of Microsoft has his stock options watered until he has stayed long enough for them to fully vest.
