UREC Facility is a auxiliary unit of LSU. Meaning they cannot run on "State" money. Their funds must come from fees and/or additional revenue sources (memberships, ticket sales, rental of the facility, etc.). Fees were presented as a student referendum and approved by the students.

Yeah I paid fees for like 5 years for a fricking river That opened after I graduates.
