If you are wanting to spend that much go mirrorless. I shoot Sony a7iii and love it. Get camera without kit lens and then get something like tamron 28-75mm and build from there. You'll love the eye auto focus on sony especially for kid shots.

Cameras have gotten so nice these days though that even entry level DSLR's like the nikon 3500 take amazing photos.
