2. LaRon Landry

Very happy to see Laron on your list this high, and I agree he is #2 behind TM imo.

I’ve posted this in similar threads, but people forget how absolutely electric he was at LSU due to the caricature he became in the NFL.

His game at LSU was pretty much flawless. Everyone remembers the big hits and being a ferocious and feared head hunter, which he was, but he was also lightning fast and as great in coverage as he was in run support or on the blitz.

He was a four year starter and team leader, not to mention tackling leader, on probably the best four year stretch of LSU defenses in the modern era, and was the highest Tiger defender ever selected by the NFL at #6 before Devin White at #5 this year.

An absolute legend of the purple and gold.

Had a total of 40 defended passes in his career, which ranks second behind Corey Webster’s 49 in school history ... Capped career with at least one tackle in 51 straight games ... Joins Shawn Burks (1983-85) as the only players in school history to lead the Tigers in tackles three times during their career ... Landry led LSU in total tackles as a freshman in 2003, in 2004 and again in 2006 ... One of the most decorated defensive backs in school history, earning First-Team All-America honors in 2006 and Third-Team All-America recognition in 2005 ... Also a two-time First-Team All-SEC selection in both 2005 and 2006 ... Selected to play in the 2007 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

My list:

1. Tyrann Mathieu
2. Laron Landry
3. Marcus Spears
4. Devin White
5. Corey Webster
