Your Opinion - What would be needed to lift sanctions on Iran?

What are your thoughts? Is there something Iran can do where you would be ok with lifting sanctions on the country?
And what are the long term outcomes of never lifting sanctions or continuing to increase sanctions?
I'm not taking sides here. I'm genuinely just curious what others think.

Completely dismantle any nuclear ambitions and aspirations.

If they take Omar and the rest of the trouble makers....

So if they do this and allow inspections by the U.S. at any time, that would be ok for you? Assume if they break the agreement and don't allow an inspection that the sanctions are back on.

Total and complete capitulation, and a removal of those wacko religious nuts that actually run the place.
I trust Iranians less than the North Koreans. Im not sure that there is any level of inspection that would make me feel comfortable. They have actually funded attacks against us. They want to build a nuke so they can sell it to terrorists. Not one other reason.

For them to go back to how they were pre-1979.

Yeah, that seems nearly impossible unless it happens from within.
Is it possible that if we keep going down this path more and more sanctions that Iran spirals into country like North Korea, or close to it? If so, is that an acceptable outcome?

^ That
Iran is run by hardcore Muslim nutjobs who would love for western culture to be wiped off the earth. You can never trust people like that. The Iranian mullahs would have to be removed from power before we should ever consider lifting sanctions.

Allow UN inspectors in all areas at any time to verify that they are complying with the nonproliferation of nuclear weapons treaty.
Will crush their regime. Maybe the next guy will comply.

We should not try to pick winners and losers in the nuclear technology war. The technology is so old now that we can never be assured that a country does not have the weapons.
My idea would be to pull out of the ME and lift the sanctions. After that should Iran ever attack us---nuke em.

quote:Yes. I think there's a better likelihood of the Iranian citizens revolting and overthrowing their government if they start starving. There's still enough Iranians around who remember how nice the country was before the revolution.

Iran ceases to exist.

I was thinking the same.

If they break the agreement, sanction them thrice as hard.

North Korea is isolated from the world. I’d be fine if Iran was isolated from the world.
Iran is a totalitarian government, run by totalitarian religious fanatics.
Iranians themselves will turn on both eventually, thereby forcing change from within. There is no benefit that lifting or easing sanctions that would trickle down to ordinary, sane Iranians. Instead, any easing up on it would only be used to provide more power and prestige to the lunatics running Iran into the ground.
They will ultimately be forced to capitulate to sanity by their own population. That won’t happen by lifting any sanctions.

Well, cutting out the death to America rhetoric would be a start. Pulling the plug on Hezbollah. Allowing free and fair elections.

So absolutely nothing with Saudi Arabia. Just pretend they never housed any terrorists or were vital in the creation of Wahabi Islam.
What proof can anyone provide that Iran is any less of a threat or backer of terrorism than Saudi Arabia.
