While here, he was the director of Tiger Band. At Oregon, he's director of bands. So, a promotion. That, and he could have been looking to jump ship to avoid the scrutiny when it hits the fan regarding the SOM allegedly taking the AD's money and using it on other things besides Tiger Band.

They promoted from within. As far as I know, LSU did not perform an external search for a new director.

It's a promotion to director of bands. Hardly being "run off".
