Remember, studies showed that the t-walls on the 17th St. Canal, Orleans side failed during Katrina because of previous dredging on the the Orleans side

"The Orleans Levee District’s 1990 dredging plan for the 17th Street Canal called for a smooth 3:1 slope and a deeper canal bottom here at the site where the levee would fail in 2005. The permit called for even dredging on both sides, but Orleans went ahead without Jefferson’s participation."
