It obviously went over your head.
Let me break it down for you.
The Squad was front and center in the news which was leading common citizens to think that all of the Democratic party was backing all of their socialist ideas. The democrats were/are on the way to losing the White house, Senate and House so Pelosi, along with the black caucus, was getting ready to put the squad on a shelf. Now Pelosi and the democrats are forced to protect and coddle the socialist group again therefore keeping them and their ideas front and center. Trump knew he was going to take a hit for saying it but knows it will pay off in the end.
