IMO, children is the key issue. Raising children pushes Spiritual buttons that having no children don't. Hard stuff comes into the (Spiritual) equation. That's why those who value the feelings that the sex act offers, over that of the burden/reward dynamic of child rearing...are 'gay'. The miss the arse-kicking that parenting assures; I'd be 'gay' too.

That said, and assuming the God Paradigm is true, and "the hairs on our head are numbered"...and..."I knew you before you were in the womb" (meaning that *you*/the particular character traits that make 'you' who 'you' are) existed before your genetic existence in this life was determined (at conception), and that in effect, it is God that gave particular individuals the genetic inclination to find hetero as taxing/repulsive as those heteros who feel the same way re homo.

There are Genetic inclinations...and Cultural/Psychological ones as well; with all manner of relative manifestations in a innumerable number of particular individuals. And those individuals pick and choose their choices/preferences, based on their particular values.

I think we got trolled by God...and Mother Nature. We chase sex because of the extraordinary (abstract/spiritual) feelings therein...yet...we end up with...KIDS. And the potential and extraordinary feeling of the Love therein. And the sacrificial burden of love as well.

"sewn in corruption (pure, good ole lust/bust one/climb high with a power partner )...raised incorruptible". Door from the 'Flesh' to the Spirit. Bottom line...we've been had. Trolled. And I love it. Love...Love that is.
