Also, if someone wants to “invade” my home, they won’t do it in the middle of the day at my front door.

Read the statistics. As the poster above me said, majority are actually during the day. Probably because enough people leave their doors unlocked and make it easy

So y’all think robberies are thwarted by locked doors?

Lmao, yes. If you were a robber, would you choose house A that's locked up, or House B where you can waltz in the front door? They have options. And why not at least make it a bit harder for them? The extra minute or two you buy yourself could be the difference between life and death.

If a robber has to break in they risk:
-cutting an artery on the glass
-the noise alerting you and the neighbors when they force themselves in
-setting off a security system

Just last year there was some teenagers breaking into cars in my neighborhood and guess what? Literally every car the broke into was unlocked. Guess how many locked cars they got into? None. Could they have broken a window of a locked car, sure, but it was much easier for them walking around checking for the dumbasses that left their shite unlocked.

But if you want to keep gambling so you don't have the occasional minor inconvenience of getting locked out (hide a spare key somewhere, it's not hard), then by all means, go for it

Eta: I don't mean locking it when you go to check the mail or something quick. Figured that goes without saying.

You have to be really dumb, really desperate, or really really brave to walk into someone’s unlocked door, uninvited. Around here, doing so is absolutely taking your life in your hands.

If a criminal walking in your front door immediately puts you at their mercy, and your wife and daughter subject to rape and you the torture of witnessing it, either you do not take responsibility for you and your family’s safety and security, or you haven’t taken the time to think, plan, and be prepared.

I have means of protection, regardless of where I go in my house. If you come in my front or back door, you’ll be dead before you make it down the hallway. If you break in one of my bedroom windows, you’ll never make it out of the hallway.
