New Orleans, and Louisiana, if you ask me, peaked around that time. Though the Fair went down as a loss, most locals enjoyed it. I can still remember visiting the China pavilion (back when China didn't really venture out much in the world) and feeling like this was something different. Same with the Vatican exhibit. It's a shame they don't still have them.

The Canadian exhibit was bad arse

Felt like I was flying though the mountains

China was cool too. I had my first Peking Duck there.

It was the fair to end all fairs, literally. Never had another one in the U.S. When it opened in May, construction wasn't even finished, and the fair almost closed prematurely due to low attendance.

While it was a huge financial failure, its lasting legacy was the convention center and the modern day warehouse district, all vitally important now. That New Orleans hit the skids by the late 80s was due more to the crack cocaine epidemic and national economic factors unrelated to what was a relatively small, short fair by world's fair standards.
