Is your frame one that's 3-4" thick or is it thinner?

Your local frame shop probably has access to moulding with a back/bottom bevel that's 1" or 2" deep. Just tell them you're interested in a shadowbox-type deal that isn't as deep as 3".

Thinner. Check out eBay. They have specs in the descriptions.
