Or, if you do, don’t bother getting off the boat in Progresso.

We booked a guided trip to check out some cenotes In Progresso. Hopefully we don’t die.

I have done 3. Believe it or not, you will have as good of a time as you allow yourself to have. Is the food amazing? No. But it is decent and there are a couple of things that are outstanding. Are you going to be surrounded by people in tuxedos? No. But if you can bring yourself to enjoy people watching, you can see some amazing things. Are there tons of gorgeous people wearing thongs and speedos for you to look at? No. But there will be one or two and when you do see them, they will be like a rose in a field of thorns.

If you enjoy gambling, gamble. If you enjoy drinking, drink. If you enjoy eating, eat. If you enjoy sleeping on a chair by the pool, sleep. If you want to read on your balcony in peace, read. If you can’t entertain yourself or find rest on a cruise then you are the problem.

It will not be the end all be all vacation. I would much rather spend a week in NYC seeing shows every night and eating New York pizza. That being said, for the money, it is a good time.

Tips:
1. Get a balcony. You will not find any peace on the boat except on a private balcony.

2. Don’t be afraid to people watch. That was one of my favorite things to do.

3. If you enjoy reading, bring a couple of books. There is all the reading time in the world.

4. Skip the shows at night. They are corny. Hit the karaoke, piano bars, and old fashioned pubs with live entertainment. That is where the nightlife is fun.

5. Don’t overeat. It is easy to do it. I always tried to get one meal a day that was fresh fruit or salad. You will be impressed at the fresh fruit.

Do it at least once.
