can of worms has opened in Alabama. Not sure what to make of this one.

Stupid prosecutor. The shooter fired five shots into the pregnant woman's abdomen. That's targeting the baby, not acting in self defense.

I don't get what you mean by can of worms though. This is unrelated to the abortion law.

If the baby daddy punched her in the stomach to get out of paying child support, and it worked, would you demand that he be charged only with simple assault?

If the pregnant woman had been with her sister and her sister got killed instead of the baby, would you call it a can of worms?

Doesn’t matter. This is obviously different.

If two people break into your home and you shoot and kill one of them the other person can be charged with the death because it happened during the commission of a crime. Same thing here. She brought along her baby during the commission of a crime and the baby died because of her actions.

No, that’s targeting center mass. Real life isn’t the movies where you shoot at peoples hands and feet to incapacitate them.

It absoutly is related. is killing a fetus murder or not?

You cannot be charged for murder in Colorado for the death of a fetus wether or not the mother is killed.
