I’d keep at it. Besides, you can still buy a new fridge. If you manage to fix it, now you have two ice makers. Like a baller.

That's a high end extra. You can get a decent sized deep freezer for under $500. Getting a new fridge for the house is going to be at least $800, but in seeing what brands you gravitate towards more like $1,200.
