Don’t Breathe is terrific too, although it’s not a traditional horror flick.

Lights Out got savaged by critics for its central metaphor of depression essentially, well, killing a person so that death was seen as a relief. But I think that's exactly why it's such a good horror movie. That's how depression feels.

I kinda want my horror movies to push on the bleeding edge of what is acceptable. That's what makes it horror. (Sorry, I think Lights Out and Don't Breathe would make a spectacular double feature)
