I like your attitude, Ed.
I too care for the lives of the people with addiction, and there’s no question that narcan saves lives.
But do you worry at all about the incentive it creates in the mind of the addict? There’s no question that the use and availability of narcan has emboldened many addicts to push themselves closer and closer to edge of death (and over it) in pursuit of a better high.
I think there is a correlation between the increased use of fentanyl as an additive to heroin and the wider spread use and availability of narcan.

That has zero to do with the users. That was a decision made by the cartels because they can buy 55 gallon drums of fentanyl from China for pennies on the dollar compared to refined heroin.

Of course, one of my good friends who is sober today got arrested for fighting EMS responders because they killed his high. He would also be dead if they didn't. It's crazy but he's a great guy.

The existance of Narcan doesn't do anything to push an addict further. It just saves their lives and gives them second chances. Nobody that's addicted to heroin has done less because they aren't aware of narcan.

Fent and Cart are just cheaper fillers to cut heroin with, Narcan has nothing to do with their introductions to the heroin game.
