Using Delta Companion Pass for International Flights.

So I'm looking at booking a MSY to JFK round trip using my Delta Companion Pass and then booking JFK to Dublin from there.
I have it set for 10 days in NYC and 6 in Dublin so that when I return I can spend a few days in NYC. My trip to NYC would be 320 in Comfort+ and then another 1100 to Dublin for two.
Who has done this and thoughts?

I got MSY to EWR to DUB last year for 400 total, I'd wait it out. about a 14 hour flight time with KLM/Delta so it was a great deal
This was also for St. Patricks Day too

Wondering if that would be with the Delta Companion Pass, obviously I'm looking at Delta Comfort+ or First Class flying to JFK or LaGuardia

I don’t think that’s a good use of the AMEX companion pass, IMO.

Because your international open jaw ticket is priced at $1700 to/from Dublin.

Well technically it is 1100 to Dublin and 320 to NY, so I'm paying 1420 for two tickets

Your RT from NYC is $640 without the pass. That’s why I’m saying $1700.
What is the RT pricing MSY-DUB without the stopover in NYC on the return?

From what I'm seeing it is 2700, so the companion pass saves us money
