Up until the 1970s, the Democrats were the conservative party. This is well documented by the politicians themselves. Likewise, Republicans had the liberals.

Democrats have always used class warfare and identity politics. The Republicans were always for business growth and lower taxes.

The tactics are the same, how they are used and for whom is different.
