re: Is cursive writing taught in schools anymore?

I remember when I was in third grade (1976), our class was taught multiplication tables, cursive writing and alphabetical order of words. Had P.E , recess and an annual field day where we competed against other classes in games, running skills and Tug-Of-War. We also had the ability to earn points for good classroom conduct. During that time, we had the pledge of allegiance and silent time.
