You don't give the run that ends your season a free base... that's just insane, especially considering that it tightens the zone that much more on a pitcher when a BB/HBP, balk or wild pitch ends the game.

You’re not looking to bury a hitter with offspeed in the dirt in that situation. You’re looking to get an out any way you can.
