Are you trying to argue that sac flies aren’t important? I honestly don’t understand what your argument for Hughes playing is.

SF stats are not very important in the grand scheme of things.

If a bats 333 and drives in 50 runs with 1SF he’s better than a guy who bats 300 drives in 40 runs with SF.

We all know Hughes hasn’t hit, but neither has Dugas, or Bianco. Gio has hit better but someone noted he hit the wall and he fell way off.

Keeping all that in mind and knowing that PM believes Reid is better at first base than Beloso, and that Hughes is better at third than Reid is based on recent SEC fielding stats and my own two eyes; I can understand why Hughes is playing.

And fwiw, I could see Mainieri shaking things up if he believes we need more punch. Maybe start Gio v a rightie and another kid v a lefty.
It’s not as if Hughes is a slam dunk.
