There are two types of people who climb Everest.

Legit climbers for whom this is a huge goal they take personal pride and interest in. Look at a guy like Alex Honnold, outdoors sports have some people who are willing to risk death to achieve.

People with money who want an accomplishment. These people will pay for sherpas, oxygen, basically to be carried to the summit, just so they can claim they climbed it.

The first type, I have no issue with. The second type are the people currently killing the experience.

ive been fascinated with Everest for the past year after watching the movie Everest; then i read Krakauer's book ( i have no interest or intention to climb anything however, i'm just a nerd). I plan on reading Beck Weathers book next.

it seems that it truly reveals human nature and character in those who climb it, which is the major lesson that Weathers says he learned in the 96 disaster. it is unfathomable to me that people would walk past people who were dying to continue climbing a mountain, but after watching and reading so much about climbing Everest, i can see how that mentality exists. i dont condone it but i understand it.

Imagine being an actual climber and have to deal with tourists with a spare 11 grand and a need to feel like a big shot.
