I think it helps with interest. During the summer everybody is all jacked up that they're gonna land a great player and/or have an overall great off-season with free agents.

Then of course after guys sign, the media speeds ahead talking about what happened and what's going to play out during the season.

There isn't near the same level of craziness during the NFL off-season, for example, as there is for the NBA off-season.
