She's right, Beyonce is garbage, but there are lots of iconic artists today, like Lady Gaga, JT, Adele and Drake.
They might seem crap now but in 20 years it'll be hero worship like it is for Madonna and Prince from the 80's, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and RHCP from the 90's.
Back in the day those acts were considered crap, just like the current artists. The only major icon who was an icon from day one was Michael Jackson. It took years to "appreciate" the artistry of Madonna. Back in the 80's she was just a slut who pandered to the gay house and LGBT scene with a good producer, now a living legend.
The real problem is not the pop artists but the formal music composers. Where are the Stravinsky's and Brahm's of the late 20th and 21st century? Now we just have Skrillex, Marshmello, Diplo and maybe Riff Raff. All iconic but probably won't stand the test of time like Mozart or Bach.

A lot of them still are. Madonna has become a literal parody of herself and folks just want her to go away.
