Honestly, 247 stars aren't consistent. Their own rating system isn't consistent.

Players are first grouped qualitatively with a star rating, then given a numerical rating based on their future potential, and finally ranked according to these numerical ratings.

quote:

110 - 101 = Franchise Player. One of the best players to come along in years, if not decades. Odds of having a player in this category every year is slim. This prospect has "can’t miss" talent.

100 - 98 = Five-star prospect. One of the top 30 players in the nation. This player has excellent pro-potential and should emerge as one of the best in the country before the end of his career. There will be 32 prospects ranked in this range in every football class to mirror the first round of the NFL Draft.

97 - 90 = Four-star prospect. One of the top 300 players in the nation. This prospect will be an impact-player for his college team. He is an All-American candidate who is projected to play professionally.

89 - 80 = Three-star prospect. One of the top 10% players in the nation. This player will develop into a reliable starter for his college team and is among the best players in his region of the country. Many three-stars have significant pro potential.

79 - below = Two-star prospect. This player makes up the bulk of Division I rosters. He may have little pro-potential, but is likely to become a role player for his respective school.

Their 5 star rating process contradicts itself. In the same paragraph says "Top 30", "composite above 98" and "top 32 to simulate draft" Sampah and Burton are above 98, but they are ranked 32 and 35 nationally, so 247 gives them 4 stars. Sampah, at a minimum, should be a 5 star on 247, he is ranked 32 nationally. Also, I would think the composite would carry more weight than the rankings.

Also, only the top 28 are given 5 stars right now. Shouldn't it be the top 32?

I know, i know, ranking don't matter.

There will be.

There is a team two states to the east that 24/7 needs 5-star spots for as they get commits from low 3-star players. They are trying not to lose subscriptions of other fan bases this year by dropping as many recruits.

This way they can just bump their favorite team's new commits and the casual observers will just notice the team's rankings going up. But, since their team won't necessarily have to drop, everyone will be happy and remain members.
