I've spent a lot of time in my life traveling in colder climates.
Traveling is one thing.

Not seeing clear sunshine for months. Single digits, plus wind, every day for months. Supernegative temps and snow storms common for months. Not going above freezing AT ALL EVER for months. Dealing with a million layers and all the thermals and shite every day for months. Shoveling snow every few days for months. Driving in that shite every day for months. Salt rusting up your vehicle for months. Road closures, huge slowdowns, wrecks, snow plows, curfews common for months

It's not even the cold. You get a new wardrobe (you may think you have winter clothes what with your traveling but trust me you don't) and you learn to layer up and deal with it and soon it doesn't bother you itself. It's just that it's a fricking hassle all the time every day and you constantly have to do extra shite you're not used to and there's never a break. There's not like a random warm day. This shite is not liveable so we take all these extra steps and life is just fricking inconvenienced all day every day for fricking months. Why the frick do people live here?

Do you live there? I had a somewhat unusual experience in that I worked on projects for 2 weeks up to 6 months in various cities with some weekends home. I spent almost an entire winter in Cleveland and another in Buffalo. Granted didn't have to maintain property.
