I was also fresh out of the grunt world when I took that job so the whole AF (especially the Air University) was more laid back and corporate than what I was used to so that might have played a part in my perception.

I spent 15 years in carrier aviation. Never met a pilot I considered nerdy. Met some arrogant douchebags, for sure, but no IT guys with wings.
