We have a problem with these hogs and they tie your hands behind your back when you want to take a few out. What an awful rule.

Agreed. I'm curious what the logic behind it is? Are they worried that some baw that's hog hunting with his AR might poach a deer out of season if the opportunity presented itself? Or that if they allow year round open season on hogs on the WMA's that the local deer herd would never get a break because there'd be hunting pressure year round?

because of the long history of poaching in LA, that's why...

if they'd limit it to daylight rimfire.. i'd be fine with that.. or trapping....

It has been proven time and again that hog populations are NOT affected by hunting or even recreational trapping. Only intensive, professional trapping and persistent nighttime harvest even make a dent in the population. Louisiana is a state that will always have hogs so your argument really holds little water.

The reason it is prohibited outside of active hunting seasons is that the manpower required to provide enforcement to ensure poaching is kept at bay during what would otherwise just be "hog season" doesn't exist in LA.
