I actually think that Gayle has the perfect counter to this in the meeting: My husband tried to move the Saints to San Antonio after Katrina and was hated initially even after the Saints stayed. However, his dedication to the City and changed attitude eventually won out and now he has a statue built in his honor on the steps of the Dome. She helped Tom with that, and can do the same for AD.
AD can overcome this. To Crewz point, most of us posting here represent the minority of the fan base that has followed this in great detail. Most casual local fans see his wanting out as being due to the "losing" and "ineptitude" of the franchise, and don't blame him. They will be fine if he stays.
ETA: Seeing NolaJakes post, I do listen to the podcast regularly and would appreciate if you could expand more on, not necessarily with the specific moment, but the context of what soured him (i.e. more interested in Saints, etc). I assume you are referring a lot to the comments on podcast about rehabbing Gayle's image, which I know you have commented on a lot over past couple of months.
