Might not be the most effective method, but green sunfish are among the favorite delicacies of flathead catfish. Put in a few flattys and let them do some control.
Downside- flatheads will eat anything that fits in their mouth and grow rapidly. A 10 pound flathead can and will easily devour a 2 pound bass.
Green sunfish are good eating but they're just so disproportionate because their heads are huge, it takes a pretty big one to make it worth cleaning.
