I feel so bad for all of the athletes. To have your season end so abruptly is quite unfathomable. Edney won’t get the chance to defend for vault title, which saddens me so much. Just seems so unfair.

I feel awful for Edney and Ruby to have not just their seasons cut short but their careers so abruptly. They didn’t even get the chance to enjoy senior night in the pmac. In the end I think both have been able to cope well with this given their great experiences at LSU and the memories they made in this sport. They can look back with not a lot of regrets, they accomplished a lot. More than most girls could say.

As harsh as it may sound, the season ending abruptly could be a blessing for this team in the long run. We were barely holding on to field a team with the injuries piling up. Kiyas Achilles were really bothering her towards the end of the year. This gives LSU the chance to truly focus on health. Kiya, Desiderio, Edwards, Alyona, Kai, Campbell, Gunter, Smith and Ryan all desperately need a pause to get back on track for the future.

Goal number one this offseason is get healthy and get in good physical shape. We need a foundation that starts with being healthy. These last two years have been nightmares with this. Can’t develop without this.

Goal number two is go back to the drawing board with the routine construction. We will have a lot of talent to work with next year and a chance to go far provided we can stay healthy. We could maximize a lot more of our scores with simple adjustments to routines. Water down leaps and take out difficulty in appropriate spots.

Goal three, We need to really dial in on leaps and toe point. It was an eye bug this year and it’s extremely obvious. That is the difference for a lot of routines that go 9.85/9.875 verses 9.90/9.925. That has to be dramatically improved on beam and floor.

Floor Choreography has to be better. The ones given this year were dissapointing to me. We need better creativity. The current style has become stale and repetitive. Believe it or not, routines can score higher provided they include good presentation and are well put together. This goes for beam as well.

Tigerbait, do you have much faith that those are goals the coaches have, too? Especially the ones concerning routine construction?
