No idea.
Im assuming he plays the long con with the way he handles them mentally. Hes been coaching at a high level for a very long time so I guess hes learned over the years how to bring guys up so that they are playing their best come postseason.
Apparently that means a tradeoff with some early struggling and midweek losses where he can get guys some work in situations where other coaches may not, that way as the season wears on and guys get injured, you have those guys that were worked in the midweek, ready to play and they have the mental fortitude not to fold when the pressure is highest.
