Bought my daughter a Mini Cooper S for graduation. The back seat is virtually non-existent, but there's plenty of room in the front. She's 6' and the size has never been a problem for her and I don't have to worry about her hauling around a car load of people and something bad happening.
It's the most fun car to drive that I've ever driven, but beware, the maintenance costs for everything on these cars costs more.
An oil change is roughly $120 (but you only need one once a year) for example.
