Not out of spite, Her and Jamie wanted a purebred Lannister to be King. When she saw that he was black of hair, her 'little black bird', had to go. She told Robert he died, but I doubt she killed him.

Gendry says his mother had blonde hair, Cersi says her kid had black hair. This was all in the first 4 episodes, so it was a set up for the end. I don't see how they would purposfully write the whole black haired kid with blonde hair mom for it never to go anywhere.

Cersi still wants a pure Lannister, but Jamie dies, will she seek out her only living heir?

They said a guy brought Gendry to the blacksmith and was paying for him. Maybe Cersi asked Jamie to take the baby away, and when he sees Gendry all will be revealed.
