Anyone here have a membership and race? Have been thinking about it for awhile and would like to possibly jump in soon. I do not have a gaming computer, or the stuff needed, but would purchase them after more research on actual equipment that would be recommended.

Any thoughts, input, or advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has any equipment recommendations, that would be appreciated as well. TIA

I've been back and forth on getting a wheel and pedals too. I'm afraid that if I ever go that far, it'll be all I do as far as gaming, though.

Yeah, i need a new hobby. Not a huge Nascar watcher, but do enjoy dirt track racing. Don't have the money for a modified, so figure this is something that can get me into racing. My buddies dad races dirt (IRL) and my buddy has told me about the setups he's seen with some of his friends in that community.

I would need a gaming computer or have someone build me one. It would be some decent initial investment, but I think I could justify it.

iracing made me a sim snob. I can't play any racing games that aren't sims now. Problem with that is my $400 wheel broke and I ain't buying a new one so no more racing for me.

The one warning for iracing I would give is its expensive. Monthly fee on top of 12 to 15 bucks for a track and car each. But that also makes the racing cleaner as nobody wants to get banned after spending hundreds on it.

How much did you spend, and what time frame was that over? Also, how much time did you spend on it, and how difficult is it to up your rating and licenses?

lets see i bought 5 or 6 cars for road and probably 10 tracks. cars are 12 each and tracks are 12-15 each so about 200 over a 4 or 5 month period not including the monthly fee.

the more you buy at the same time the larger of a percentage off you get tho which i didnt really take advantage of.

quote:

All subscriptions include 18 cars and 18 tracks, our full premium service and all the racing you want 24/7. If you wish to buy additional cars, they cost a one-time fee of $11.95. If you want to buy additional tracks, they cost a one-time fee of either $11.95 or $14.95 depending on the track.

We offer many volume discounts as well: Purchase any 3 or more cars or tracks at the same time and receive 10% off

Purchase any 6 or more cars or tracks at the same time and receive 15% off

Purchase a total of 40 or more cars or tracks and receive a 20% discount on all future content purchases

basically rookie class is "free". you get the cars and tracks to race it with the subscription. you can power through it within a week if you have the time.

its not hard to get your license class up but it starts to cost more money to do so. i believe they have 1 D class car free now as well(didnt when i played) but you will need to start buying tracks for that car. they race on the same track for a week then switch to a new one every Tuesday. so if the D class series is on a track that isnt free you will have to buy it or wait. the higher class you go the less they race on free content especially on oval.

irating isntt that important. if there are more people signed up for a race then spots on the grid it splits based on irating but when i played at least most series weren't popular enough to split very often.

IRacing basically took the great mod and league scene (that were free), issued cease and desists to destroy the community, then charged a premium for the same stuff. RIP Nr2003. God, I miss those days. That Aero 88 mod is still tGoat racing mod of all time.

Thank you for that info!

I have been watching quite a few videos on youtube about it tonight and see that the cost, or the purchases (cars and tracks) seem to be the largest factor.

I would more than likely use the rookie class until I really got a feel for it. I know I will want to advance and buy more stuff, but I could defintly hold off on that and just enjoy the game for what it is when first starting.

I have seen a few videos showing suggestions how to license up and keep saftey rating up. I would most definitly watch more and look at forums to be prepared.

My thing is the initial setup of getting a computer capable, wheel, and whatever else I needed. Not that I dont have the money, but I just dont usually splurge on things like this. I would probably search around for equipment and try to find the best products for the best buy.

Does this board have any prior threads about gaming computers or any recommendations of what I should be looking at for a new computer? This is another part that I am not knowledgeable about.
