It was a consistently enjoyable watch. The problem was the budget for it was more then Showtime (I think it was Showtime) was willing to spend for the series. Had it been on a network a little bit more willing to splash the cash, like HBO, it probably would have had a good 5 year run.

The movie was... they couldn't get all the actors and while there were some good scenes it had that stretch a 45 minute episode to an hour and a half vibe.
