So, in your school district there are charter schools and non/charter schools (traditional public schools) and kids are assigned to these schools based on their home address with no differences between the two types?

In other words, a child is assigned to a school by the school board and it could possibly be either a charter or a traditional school?

That’s a new one on me. I pretty much assumed that charter schools and school choice went hand in hand.

Now then, here’s another question. Are you stating as fact that the charter schools are being given more money per student than traditional schools in the same district under the Devos/Trump plan?

Are you certain that the “extra money for charter schools” isn’t actually money spent to facilitate additional charter schools in districts that need assistance in getting them started?

My entire district is charter. All of the schools are alotted state waivers. There are no non-charter schools in my district.

It has nothing to do with choice/competition. It has everything to do with less restrictions on spending money.

I don't know specifically what the money from DOE goes to. I highly doubt that the charter funds is specific for FTE (money per student within charters). But that is just speculation. Our district does get money from the state for the sole purpose of being a charter (not tied to per student). And that money could be sourced from the federal DOE.

The point is that charter and traditional schools have the exact same purpose. There are loopholes where private schools can convert to charter schools (and still remain private) to get these funds. The federal government shouldn't be cutting their education budget and rewarding cronies/interests without those cuts. Cuts should be broad and non-discriminatory.

Yeah. That's not a thing.
