Thank to everyone who replied... about the recommendations that I expected and appreciate the insight... my gut was telling me to hire a guide and see if he'd run my boat for me and basically show me around

A guide the first time is a great thought.
I will add with the river like it is it will be VERY hard to find trout in Venice you are going to have to run from Venice to somewhere else to find trout. So if you are hoping to find trout really wait even with a guide. If you just want redfish and freshwater cats have them take you now.
Ultimately you like the rest of us are dying to fish with the weather getting right that's understandable. Just try and get the conditions right as well to make it a good trip and memorable experience.
